01 / Profile

My route into
legal work.

My name is Zhao Yongsong. I graduated from Liaoning University of International Business and Economics in 2019, majoring in E-commerce.

After graduation, I worked as a legal affairs assistant in an e-commerce company. I am now studying for a master’s degree in Law at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

My career direction connects these three parts of my background. I want to support an e-commerce business through careful legal preparation, a practical understanding of online operations, and continued professional learning.

Liaoning University of International Business and Economics

Major: E-commerce. A foundation for understanding online business and its operating context.

Legal Affairs Assistant · E-commerce company

Experience in a legal support role within the industry I studied. This is a relevant starting point for my next career step.

Current / Postgraduate study

Al-Farabi Kazakh National University

Master’s degree in Law — in progress. I am developing deeper legal knowledge and a more structured analytical approach.

My specific former duties, employment dates, and achievements are not listed here because they have not been supplied. The work sample below is a proposed exercise.

02 / Understanding recruitment

What does an e-commerce
legal team need?

Illustrative target role

E-commerce Legal & Compliance Assistant

Supporting a company’s legal team with research, document organisation, issue tracking, and communication.

A company needs legal support that fits its business processes. In online commerce, questions can arise around sales terms, supplier agreements, promotions, customer complaints, and information handling. An assistant helps make the facts and documents clear before the legal team decides what action to take.

This is an illustrative role profile, not a specific company’s vacancy or a jurisdiction-specific statement of legal duties. Exact qualifications and responsibilities must be checked in the employer’s advertisement.

01 / INDUSTRY CONTEXT

Understand online operations

Recognise how product listings, orders, customer service, and supplier relationships connect.

02 / LEGAL RESEARCH

Find dependable information

Identify relevant questions, locate appropriate sources, and check their authority, date, and jurisdiction.

03 / DOCUMENT SUPPORT

Prepare accurate records

Organise agreements, compare versions, check key details, and keep track of approvals.

04 / ISSUE HANDLING

Turn a problem into clear facts

Collect documents and timelines, identify missing information, and prepare questions for review.

05 / COMMUNICATION

Work across departments

Ask focused questions and share concise updates with legal, operations, and customer service colleagues.

06 / PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT

Protect information and deadlines

Follow confidentiality procedures, maintain reliable records, and seek guidance within the role’s limits.

03 / Professional strengths

My background becomes useful
when I apply it carefully.

01

Business context

My E-commerce major helps me approach legal questions with an understanding of the business setting. I want to explain the operating process clearly before moving to the legal issue.

Foundation: undergraduate study in E-commerce.

02

Relevant workplace experience

My legal affairs assistant role gives me a direct connection to company legal support. I can build on that background while assessing which practical skills I need to strengthen.

Foundation: previous legal affairs assistant employment.

03

Developing legal analysis

My current master’s study supports a more systematic approach: establish the facts, define the questions, check sources, and explain what remains uncertain.

Foundation: postgraduate legal study in progress.

My working approach: careful reading, organised notes, clear questions, and timely escalation. I want to demonstrate these habits through work samples and supervised practice rather than rely on a job title alone.

04 / Applied thinking

A refund complaint.
A clear review file.

Illustrative exercise / Not a past case

When the order record and the customer’s account differ.

A customer requests a refund and says the product did not match the listing. The operations team has an order record, but the version of the listing shown at purchase has not yet been confirmed.

My aim would be to prepare a balanced file for the legal supervisor, preserve relevant information, and avoid reaching a conclusion before the facts are checked.

This scenario is created for the portfolio. It does not describe a real dispute I handled or provide legal advice.

Collect the relevant records

Gather the order, listing version, purchase terms, customer messages, and any images supplied, using approved access procedures.

Build a timeline

Record purchase, delivery, complaint, and response dates. Separate confirmed information from disputed points.

Identify the open questions

What did the listing say? What difference is alleged? Which policies and jurisdiction-specific rules require review?

Prepare a supervisor’s summary

Present both accounts, list missing evidence, flag applicable deadlines for confirmation, and record the approved response.

Example case note: “The customer reports a difference between the product and the listing. The order record is available, but the listing version at purchase is unconfirmed. Please advise which further records are needed before a response is approved.”

05 / Career fit

Where I match.
What I will strengthen.

I bring a relevant combination of industry education, legal support experience, and ongoing legal study. The next step is to show how those foundations translate into reliable work for a particular employer.
